Building up my cymbal setup

Had a gig this afternoon, so I took the opportunity to snap some pics. The first 2 are an overview of the whole setup. You can see my cracked 19" wuhan,(still sounds ok but needs replacing with a new one since the decay is too short now), setup on the left and also on the right. In the end, I decided to leave it on the right. I have to buy some new cymbal stands, hence the flimsy stand it's on. I'm going to have the wuhan and also my other 20" zildjian oriental china one on each side. Also, I'm going to have my K 16" crash and my istanbul 16" crash on each side. The Istanbul Agop ride you can see is the dark trashy one I just received from USA. The hihats I also just bought, ufip class series 13", and I also just bought the K custom dry light ride. Both fabulous. I'm now broke! [img]frown.gif[/img] [img]smile.gif[/img]

oooooooo nice. Hey did you know you're supposed to get a special part for wuhan cymbals? Apparently it's some kind of springy thing you put on the top of your stand, and it protects the cymbal and stuff....found this out after complaining about my cracked china...

Do you think it would be a good idea to get the spring thing for a 12" wuhan? It cost me almost $15 at sam ash!

have you tried the zildjian remix efx crash with the tramborine bells taken off? it sounds amazing. perfect blend of crash and china.

It's still possible to break cymbals using the cymbal springs. I used to use one with my Wuhan and it still broke. [img]graemlins/cry.gif[/img] It was one of my favorite chinas.

Nah, I don't think that there are problems with Wuhans as a whole, I just think that their construction/consistancy may not be up to the standards of Zildjian/Paiste/Sabian. I got mine in 1989 at PASIC and cracked the outer edge by 1992. I was also playing in the University of Kansas Basketball Band using Zildjian Session Master sticks playing balls out loud! The damage had been done to it by the time I learned how to play cymbals correctly, without breaking them. I'd buy one again if I played music where I could use it, but I also have a Paiste 20" red Colorsound that I like a lot (also don't play in any bands where I could use this one & still keep my gig!).

Speaking of Wuhans, is it true you can't really ride them, but only use them for accents, because they are prone to breaking?
